Cleaning Safety

Natural can still be toxic

Treat natural cleaning products as you would commercial products. Use gloves and other precautions when using strong cleaners.

Use mild products where possible

Most hard-surface cleaning can be done using vinegar, baking soda, or the correct commercial product. Save ammonia and bleach for tough jobs.

Some mixtures can be deadly

NEVER mix bleach and ammonia -- the mixture releases toxic gases. Instead look for neutral pH, nonirritating, nonhazardous, or biodegradable solutions.

Cleaning Tips

Ice Cubes Deodorize Garbage Disposal

Feed ice cubes made of vinegar down your disposal. Flip the switch to grind the cubes, then flush with cold water.

Use a Rubber Glove to Pick Up Fur

Pick up pet fur quickly and easily by running a damp rubber glove over the surface. Any hair will cling to the glove, not the upholstery.

Use a Coffee Filter to dust

Dust on your flatscreen TV or Monitor? A coffee filter will work quite nicely (and safely instead to leave screens lint-free.
